Ellen is an independent natural resource consultant and the sole owner of Ibis Wildlife Consulting. She is a certified wildlife biologist with over 20 years of experience specializing in habitat planning and management, wildlife ecology, open space planning, biodiversity conservation, science and nature writing.
From March 2007 to March 2008 she served as the Community Land Protection Specialist for the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire. From 2000-2003 she was Extension Professor and Specialist in Biodiversity for University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension and Coordinator of the New Hampshire Living Legacy Project, a statewide public-private partnership to conserve the state's biodiversity. Previously she served as the Extension Wildlife Specialist for 7 years. She has over 20 years of experience in wildlife, habitat, and open space planning and stewardship.
Past field work included studies of small mammals in Pipestone National Monument in Minnesota, songbirds in the Hubbard brook Experimental Forest of New Hampshire, and forest birds in central Panama. She helped initiate the New Hampshire Coverts Program, a landowner volunteer program.
In her town of Newmarket she has served on the Conservation Commission and the Open Space Commission, helping to conserve hundreds of acres for wildlife and people, creating trails and interpretive materials, and providing input to land use decisions in the community.
